British Esports Championships

The British Esports Championships

The British Esports Championships (aka ‘Champs’) is a new competitive video gaming competition for students aged 12-19 in schools and colleges across the UK.

The Champs is open to all secondary schools, Further Education (FE) colleges and Alternative Provision (AP) schools in the UK and is PC-based. Each institution can enter multiple teams for three different games: League of Legends (5v5), Overwatch (6v6) and Rocket League (3v3).

Key information for teachers, staff members and parents can be found in our deck here.

If you’re a student who wants to take part in the Champs but doesn’t know where to start, please read this article.

The British Esports Association

The British Esports Association is a national body for amateur esports (competitive video gaming), very much focused on the grassroots. We a not-for-profit organisation designed to support and promote grassroots esports in Britain.

Our three aims are to Promote, Improve and Inspire.

Our goal is not to push esports as a sport or as a rival to traditional sport, but as a veritable activity in its own right which can have positive cognitive and other benefits when carried out in moderation. Esports promotes teamwork and communication, develops communities and provides jobs.

Unlike passive media such as TV, esports requires quick thinking, mechanical skill and involves the participants directly.
